The established model of development assistance is changing as many donors find less funding available for health programming. Many low- and middle-income countries are still spending under 2 percent of GDP on health. Regional production and R&D initiatives will increase resilience but also seem likely to increase commodity prices, at least in the short term. Demands on already stretched healthcare systems are increasing because of conflicts, the impact of climate change and continued natural catastrophes. How do we maintain resources and opportunities in the face of new challenges? And given the very limited progress in the first part of the decade, are the SDGs still meaningful, particularly SDG3 - good health and wellbeing?
